Both of the first two trades are about what I'd expect. Whether you'd get the retention on Lindholm (or even need it) is open to debate, personally I'd rather send a low pick to WAS to get retention on Dowd as he has another year left. Not sure on Lankinen but there are plenty of potential options out there for a back up G and it's probably in the ball park.

Someone would beat that offer for Dowd. A 2026 second is pretty far out.

Why is Calgary doing the Avalanche the favor of taking Johansen?

A Late 1st and B prospect for Lindholm alone is already on the light end.. Let alone clearing 4M in capspace next year. Oh ya, and then Calgary' is also retaining.

Pretty terrible offer.

Lindholm has been playing worse and worse since he and the rest of the Flames broke out a couple of years ago. The only one from that team that has played well since is Tkachuk in Florida. Not saying he couldn't rebound with a better team, Colorado is not going to give up prospects or picks for a rental. And dont think he is the player they will want to extend after not looking all that great lately.

A late 1st and a B prospect is right in the middle for a guy like Lindholm on an expiring contract. A roster player they can use and then possibly flip later on is also pretty customary, especially given the Flames recent history. Retention probably isn't necessary given the inclusion of Johansen, but outside of that retention on expiring contracts almost never requires additional assets.

It may not be the best offer Calgary receives, or specifically what they're looking for, but it's definitely within acceptable range for Lindholm.
