Real tough. I gave you my opinion.
You want a 27 year old top pairing defensemen, who's a right handed shot, that put's up 50 points a year, and plays 24 minutes a night for a 2nd round pick and 23 year old non roster player who fills absolutely zero needs for Calgary. It's a beyond brutal proposal.

Huberdeau has been "much worse" eh?
Huberdeau in Calgary = 0.66 points per game
Meier in New Jersey = 0.53 points per game
Why would Calgary want to pay Meier more (with the retention) for worse production? Additionally Huberdeau has outproduced Meier in 7 of the 8 seasons he has played in the NHL including this one.

Hahahahaha. Come on..
Not. Even. Close. On top of the crap value you then throw in retention on what already is one of the best value deals in the NHL?

Indeed I did. :tearsofjoy
The value stinks. Adding a bunch of pieces that have zero worth to Calgary doesn't help.
You are probably close(ish) but still short on Hanifin's value but really missed the mark on Andersson.

Calgary doesn't want your depth pieces for two top pairing defenders. The nerve to not even offer up a top five prospect in your pool.
Not even close. Video game offers won't work.

Lindy City
Why is Calgary doing the Avalanche the favor of taking Johansen?
A Late 1st and B prospect for Lindholm alone is already on the light end.. Let alone clearing 4M in capspace next year. Oh ya, and then Calgary' is also retaining.
Pretty terrible offer.

LOL - I wouldn't talk in such absolutes.
This is a league which has seen Nick Foligno, David Savard, and Ben Chiarot go for 1st round picks at the deadline in recent years. All worse players than Tanev.
He very well may go for less - but we don't know the market yet.

No thanks.
Weegar is a significantly better all around player, and comes in 1.75M cheaper. I really don't care about a three year age gap.

Lyubushkin deal

Every NHL franchise has players like Abruzzese in the system. He holds zero trade value. At best he might one day become a viable middle six option, but that's unlikely at this point.

Imagine thinking a 24 year old with three goals in the AHL is worth a 2nd round pick.

Defenseman Trade
Calgary isn't throwing in Z with retention to make the "cap work". He's a valuable commodity in his own right.
A 1st and Lohrei is probably adequate value for Hanifin.

No. Abruzzese holds zero value.
He's a 24 year old with 3 goals in the AHL. Leafs fans think Calgary values him because he played one year with Coronato, lol.
Just a laughably poor offer.

Yikes.. That's absolutely brutal for Calgary.
No chance Labanc returns anywhere near the 12th overall pick, let alone a much younger roster player who had 6 less points last season..

Where is the incentive for Calgary?
Mangiapane is 4 years younger, 3 million dollars less expensive, produces the same (while continually improving each year), and is team controlled as an RFA moving forward.
Nino is a good player but is a UFA at seasons end. I don't see a fit, and Mangiapane is not available regardless.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>I agree. I previously offered Batherson and the 10th pick which I think is a fair offer for both teams</div></div>
That's probably a deal Calgary considers. A big body, right handed, age appropriate forward and a high pick.
Maybe an additional piece like Bernard-Docker, Greig, Thompson, or Sokolov. The sens sure have an embarrassment of riches under 23. The future is bright.

That's fair. I am not saying its poor value or that the Senators should do it.
Calgary would look for a deal that better suites there needs, and provides more of an immediate help for the team. I am sure that could be found elsewhere.
Batherson would be the starting point in negotiations with the Sens for sure.

Insightful. I am very aware of who is involved in the deal, thanks.
Quality always trumps quantity. I am sure you wouldn't trade Brady for an equivalent package.
