Whats Hanifin worth

Created by: djmbrown

Description
This expands on the Lindholm one I did a little while ago.

The one problem this site and us users aren’t able to take into consideration is what the market is for a player. We look at things from two perspectives as Team A offers and Team B declines or accepts. What’s not included is the fact that prices are sometimes driven up on players because of tons of factors
1. What other teams are offering
2. Where the player may be willing to go
3. Trying to outbid for a player and be willing to overpay (I’m looking at you Tampa)

So I wanted to try this. Who wants Hanifin? What will you offer up for him? Then based on other offers you see in the comments you can feel free to up yours or not. Might be a fun experiment and be a little closer to what actually goes on. Include whether or not he resigns and what conditions might be included on picks involved.

I’m thinking at least there would be a bunch of contending teams involved. Who doesn’t want a top pairing D who’s dependable defensively and has shown some offensive flair the last season or two?!

Well you’re free to include an extension in a trade offer.

Problem is everyone knows Hanifin wants to sign with Boston this summer.

So Boston isn't going to pay Calgary what he's worth even as a rental.

Other teams know they have no chance of signing him to a contract extension.

There's what Hanifin should get and what he will get.

Unless Hanifin is traded to Boston he's a rental.

I always love these rumors about everyone wanting to play where they are from or played before. The reality is it only happens in a handful of situations. So I don’t believe it’s Boston or nobody, especially if another team is willing to offer more money.

I think Hanifin is worth a 1st+2nd+3rd worth if value.
Add more for retention or taking bad cap back.

But he *is* a short term rental. He either goes for rental price or he doesn't go.

I think Calgary is willing to retain. Nobody knows whether or not hanifin will sign an extension but I think if it’s a contender in the states I’d say he might be interested. So since none of us are insiders we can add it into trade proposals here.

Kind of like how Tavares was signing in Toronto 2 years before it happened?

Or Debrincat was being traded to Detroit months before it happened?

Swing and a miss, Jamoke. 🤭

Unlikely he would be priced with extension, so adding retention is best way to boost his value a bit (cannot be both). Maybe get extra mid pick out if it.

Once he makes his decision…there will be plenty of bidders.

No need to be so sensitive when people disagree with you. Maybe you should find another hobby that doesn’t trigger you so much.

There are thousands of examples of guys not playing at “home” and a handful of ones where it happened. So you saying that “everyone knows Hanifin wants to sign in Boston” is not only ridiculous to pretend you know what the guy intends to do, but also the most flimsy argument someone can make in a thread.

If you don’t want to play along with more than what your limited point of view suggests then maybe just stick to PS5 where you’re always right wink

Why can’t it be both? Calgary could retain this year and have him agree to an extension before a trade is made. That’s how they’d maximize value for him. Nobody has made any kind of real trade offer here so far.

Guy you just threw a temper tantrum.

Next time you want to show off maybe try not to cry so much. 🤭

That was utterly pathetic. Try again. 🙄

Oh the classic projecting response. You claim the other person is doing something to draw the attention away from your own immature posts. Your posts are all like this. Sites better off without that crap. So maybe be constructive or go back to trolling somewhere else.
