Lybushkin would be the leafs 8th defender now. If you want a not very good defensive guy Lagesson is free and less than half the price

TJ Brodie to EDM?
Edmonton will pass on this deal.
I don’t see Brodie as a good fit for the Oilers.

How can all 3 trades be bad for TOR at the same time?

If Tanev isn't worth a 1st, and Brodie is worth less, then you should be pretty happy with the 2nd. Or do you evaluate Brodie to be the better defender out of the two?

Tanev = 2nd round pick so that deal is an over pay (in the right market the Flames might get a 1st)

Brodie makes no sense to trade him if you are adding Tanev as it minimizes what you are trying to do unless there is other D that is coming in

Lyubushkin can be had for the 3rd alone

I would be very surprised if Tanev only got a 2nd back, but we'll see in a month.

Once the market opens up a bit and more teams decide they are out and become sellers the asking price will come down.

he's a 34 year old injury prone D so its a big ask for anything more than a 2nd

He is the best RD available on the market, unless Dumba becomes available. He's the type of player every team wants for a playoff run. As for injury prone, auston Matthew's has missed more games then him in the last 4 seasons.

That would increase the chance that Calgary gets more but as we get closer to the deadline more players will become available and if the price is too high people start to turn to other options
