Monahan isnt going to be able to hack it in any top 6, he needs to be sheltered as hell just like Domi and get LOTS of power play time to produce. He's nothing the leafs need at all.
And similar for Lybushkin, the leafs really dont need slow bottom pairing guys, they have Benoit and Lagesson for that

I was looking at him to help JT as he's starting to show his age, gives us a few different looks at 2c/3c

Come on man, we paid a fourth to get him, at least throw us a third for using a retention spot on him.

Yeah, it would be nice to get a guy to shoulder some of JT's load, but Monahan isnt that guy. He just gets buried by anything approaching good competition and he's so slow and immobile out there he makes JT look like Mackinnon.
At best, Monahan is an add for a contender who has the ability to run a sheltered 3rd scoring line or has a pair of good 2 way wingers with speed to pair him with, he doesnt really fit in toronto

You guys clearly haven't watched many habs games lol. Monahan is good on so many levels. There is a reason they're getting a first plus for him

Fair enough But they need a cheap option that allows them be slightly more competitive into the playoffs without mortgaging more of their future. this is not the year to go all in

yes yes, we know, Habs fans are gonna get a 1st for everything they have just like every year because they clearly have such an amazing roster of wonderful players which is why they are taking the league by storm.

they're better off going all in than just adding guys who arnt gonna help. I mean, if they can move domi and replace him with monahan for cheap that might work, but the last thing they need is two guys that are only effective in heavily scripted minutes.

Sorry buddy, but you're out of touch with the NHL and trade process during the dealine if you think he doesn't go for a first minimum. Averaging a 60pt season on a team that doesn't score, can play wing or center, one of the best faceoff guys, defensively responsable and dirt cheap when half retained. Plus you add in the fact that there isn't a ton of rentals available this year. Bidding war gets a 1st plus

You do realize that as we get closer to the deadline more teams will become sellers and more players will be available? He will be most likely picked up to play a 3rd line role not top 6.

3rd line recollimation projects don't return 1st round picks. I think your the one that's out of touch

Defensively responsible is a stretch, and he's got an injury list as long as my leg.

Thankfully you guys already got a first for him.

Max Domi had 18 goals and 49 points in 60 games last year and was traded for a late 2nd and a literal cap dump. You really out of touch with the NHL trade process
Lol at monahan being defensivly responsible, dude watch the habs and you'd know better

You don't really understand the NHL lol. I already mentioned all the reasons he is getting a first min, which isn't the same as Domi. You're a leafs fan bud, so maybe that changes your opnion of a habs player? Maybe lol. I hope you're still around after the deadline to admit you're wrong

lol, yeah, i read your reasoning and it was full of stuff that wasnt true at all. You think Monahan is good defensively and he's an absolute liability in his own end and anyone who knows anything about the game knows that. The difference between him and Domi is that Domi can actually skate at an NHL level, unlike monahan who is literally one of the slowest players in the league.
Just because you are hilariously biased to players on your own team, which is heavily on display here, doesnt mean others are.
Hey, maybe you'll get luck and some dumb GM will be super dumb like they were with chariot, but that doesnt mean that your player is good, it means it was a bad trade. Monahan is a low end 3rd liner who cant defend and if you cant understand that then i dunno what to tell you

I'm pretty realistic with my own team. You add in the fact of salary and limited rentals and that gets the value to a first. You're the type of guy who probably thinks all habs players suck lol. You're just biased and clearly are not looking at the reasons I mentioned for the reason he is getting a first min. Which btw is my argument. And what world do you live in by saying he is a liability in his oen end? You obviously don't watch habs games if thats your opinion. Monahan would be a perfect add to every contender out there. Especially with how low the cap hit would be.

Dude if you think monahan is anything but a powerplay spe****t you are anything but realistic about your own team, and yeah most of the habs players suck, that's what happens when you are a bad team

You don't watch habs games if you think that. You clearly don't. But you're so biased and unrealistic. They're getting a first for him easy and thats the actual argument. Enjoy your leafs exiting early again with that D core lol. Later

Youve never seen a game of hockey in your life, dont even know what a puck is, think a putter is goalie equipment.
