Trades
VAN
  1. Glass, Cody
  2. Matier, Jack
Additional Details:
Why Nashville does this: Garland is a play driver and imo if he has O'Reilly he could peak out closer to PPG than he has in his career.
Why they don't? They don't think Garland is more then a very good 3rd liner and don't want to pay him 5m a season for 2 more years.
NSH
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. Klimovich, Danila
Additional Details:
Why Vancouver does this? Feel that Glass can rebound in Tocchet's system whether thats as 3rd line or winger in the top six.
Why they don't do it? Garland has form chemistry and into one of the best 3rd lines in the NHL moving him is too much of a risk.

If you don't want to pay a 3rd liner 5m per, what makes you think Nashville wants to?

I don’t think the Canucks should do this, especially considering how much Glass has struggled this season. If we move a forward to clear cap space it should be Kuzmenko or even Mikheyev before Garland

I can agree with Kuzmenko but I disagree with Mikheyev I think we are forgetting he is coming off and ACL tear and most need a season of play to get back into groove after it. (Heck Connor Brown is struggling worse after coming back from same injury). I like Garland and am not opposed to keeping but I do think he'll have the most value to move after this season. Eventhough I'm probably not getting fair value back for him.

Because Garland is an elite 3rd liner who’s more than capable of playing well in a top 6 role. He had a tough start to the season points wise but since December he’s been playing at a 60 point pace in a 3rd line role, is responsible defensively, and an elite play driver

Still wondering if Garland can transition to a second line with the right center, which would then help justify his CAP hit a bit more.

Yeah I’d be totally fine keeping Mikheyev. If we had to move one between him and Garland I’m not sure who I’d rather move. But considering Garland has played extremely well under Tocchet both since he took over in Vancouver and in Arizona, I think he’s someone we should keep

To add to that he just doesn't fit our top six enough to be one Pettersson doesn't work that well with Garland as they are similar styles just Pettersson is miles ahead in skill. And Miller Boeser need speed and mucking on their line why the 2 best people with them this year has been Di Giuseppe or Höglander. So moving Garland out and imo giving Glass a chance to be Peteys winger might be in both teams best interests.

Elias Pettersson > William Nylander, No way is Pettersson making less than Nylander.

Filip Hronek is on pace for close to 70 points. he's getting between $7,500,000 to $8,000,000 per.

Petey supposedly want to win the cup over getting paid that was me expressing that. If not true you are right.

Hronek has gotten points yes but how much is being defence partners with Hughes. I think looking at his numbers outside of this year an equivalent would be Travis Sanheim. And adjusting for new cap should be around 6.5m gave a bit more.

The Canucks want to keep Garland, this deal certainly won't happen. Garland is a top-6 winger on any team in the league, he's a top-6 on Vancouver, people call it the 3rd line but the Joshua-Blueger-Garland line is essentially played as a 2a/2b with the Mikheyev-Suter-Kuzmenko line. He has 17 points in his last 23 GP, on pace for 15 goals, 40 points over the season; if the JBG line maintains its scoring pace the rest of the way, he'll finish with 20 goals and 55 points.
