There is no way Samsonov should be traded. He's playing well and Jones isn't. I just don't see those Dmen as such difference makers, never mind the fact the Leafs would have four UFA Dmen next summer.

The leafs are nowhere near a contender, so why waste assets at the TDL. They need to look at their options this off season.

Unfortunately/fortunately, 3rd in their division still places them in the mix, and I dont think they can sit back and not make any moves. While there are teams that look (and are better) they are also a team lacking picks and prospects, possess key UFAs, and will remain close to the cap so a weak 2nd round appearance cant be the aim again in 2024.

Its probably too much future for short term guys, but they definitely need to add (and they dont really have alot of spare roster players PHI or CGY would want). I picked Walker because hes solid and I picked Hanifan because blue line offense was why Treliving signed Klingberg. (and if they have space left, it'd be nice to add to that 3rd line (Dube just fit - but i KNOW THE ISSUES). Ultimately, in the above, they lose 3 good picks, but retain all their current prospects/young guys, while trading what might be acceptable/wanted by those other teams.

Its tough because they have 4 quality prospects and a huge drop off after that, they have just 2 picks in the first 2 rounds of the next 3 yrs, so without trading a key piece that damages their 23-24, they dont have a deep pool of tradeable/WANTED assets.
