Calgary's potential trades might work, and it does make sense.

The value seems fair, but the Avs just can't move Byram rn. That is an off-season conversation.

Stars fans must not have seen this yet. Bourque alone would be a premium return for the type of season he’s having

Beg your pardon? What part of a 2nd round pick in 2026 or an expiring Lindy the Avs can't afford to re-sign is fair for Byram?

It is a 2024 2nd that will be quite low and the Flames are taking nearly $8M in Cap off your books to allow you to resign Lindholm.

But you're still getting a young, cost-controlled D with top-pair potential; that's plenty in return. And freeing up that space does nothing for re-signing Lindholm; the Avs simply do not have space to sign anyone to a big contract without trading even more significant roster players whom they would then have to replace. The economics of the Avs trading for anyone that needs an expensive new deal or is already on an expensive deal do not work without creating other roster problems.

My bad this was before I found out he's taken a dip in scoring. Even if not, admittedly I don't like the idea of trading Byram either, but could it come down to that?

The issue with trading Byram right now, especially for Lindy, is that, come the end of the season, the Avs would be without both Byram and Lindy because they can't afford to re-sign Lindholm. It is just not good asset management to make that sort of trade. If I were CMac, I'd call around in the offseason to see if anyone wants Byram for a youngish C on a very friendly contract. Not sure who that would be or even if they exist but it's worth asking around. I'm not excited to trade Byram as getting value back would be difficult but they are going to have a tough time paying him after next season so he may have to go.

I’d only consider the Tanev deal with reasonable extension. And even then i think about it. There are D-men out there that could help us that won’t require Broberg being moved.
