Additional Details:

If GMs think that Monahan is worth a 1st, then a 1st + bottom six scoring option should get it done if Kakko is really on the block, but it depends on how NYR values him. If he's just a trade chip would do it, but if they still see him as a surefire first liner then it might not - MTL would have to add a pick (maybe pens '25 2nd and their own '24 3rd?)

I think this is fair value but the Rangers wont be trading him for a rental.

Monahan might not be rental only.
If I was NYR, I'd rather have Monahan next year instead of Wheeler who has been underwhelming IMO.

Totally agree. Would have to see what Monahan's asking price is and term.

Ylonen is just a throw in and doesn't really add any value to the trade. He could probably be had for a late round pick.
