Well technically it would be $2,062,500 next year since it’s a new contract

Copley out for the season and on LTIR. If the Kings were to trade for a goalie, one of Talbot or Rittich would need to be included in the trade.

Dumb question, does the retention carry over to Zucc's new contract? I thought that we could be (hypothetically) able to retain on the contract that ends after this year and then the Rags would pay 100% of the extension, no?

I wouldn’t be able to sign that Zucc/Kakko) deal fast enough if I ran the Wild!! (Retention wouldn’t carry over to new contract, as I understand it.)

Retention carries over.

It's 50% of the current contract and then 50% of the new one.

There's a reason why they are called contract EXTENSIONS.

Yes, it carries over.

It's called a contract extension for a reason.

Therefore, if you retain on his current contract, it's same percentage is going to apply to that next contract if extended. Similar to how NTC's and NMC's are retroactive to current contracts if given signed extensions.
