You'd need a lot more with it being in division.

I don’t think so. That is a good offer that gives you what you need. Pittsburgh’s only focus on trying to win next season and there won’t be many offers that will beat that especially with a player Dubas knows very well

Regardless of value and fit now - trading Jackson Blake is a huge mistake.

If Pittsburgh decides to move on from Jake, why does this matter? Do you think he’s extending in Carolina?

If Guentzel turned down the supposed 8.5mil long term deal that the Pens offered, the Canes aren’t going to even consider giving him more than that. Smith would be of interest, but moving Bunting would be a mistake for a rental and Smith.

For 6 years. Why ride through years 4-6 on a bad team if the team is going to max extend you? Guentzel could get 7 years on a decent or even good team at the same AAV and have less suffering

Idk about that. Blake is D+3 which adds to his scoring totals.

We have totally different views on this. I see someone who fell to the 4th round due to size but has done nothing but be extremely productive in the USHL, NCAA, and world juniors. D+3 for an Aug ‘03…he’s a sophomore at UND and has a legit shot at the Hobey Baker after being the Freshman of the year last year.

He has the speed, shot, and playmaking to be an NHL player.

He doesn’t have projected speed in the nhl game due to his fair skating for his size. Can he get there, sure of course. Without it he is going to have a harder time in the nhl. He still has a very good ceiling but that shouldn’t make him “ a mistake to trade” prospect. Especially when we are talking about a 40 goal scorer.

This scenario isn’t happening anyways because we aren’t this aggressive. Arguing about Blake is fairly moot.

Bunting and Smith are a wash

2024 1st + Blake and Heimosalmi doesn't get you Jake at 50%, so again you're just not close.

Monahan getting a 1st with no retention and Lindholm not being retained for a 1st are going to just drive Jake's price up. I don't think they'll even trade him and if they do it's going to be for most like a 1st plus players that can help now.

Starting with bunting and smith are a wash says all I need to know.

Its bunting, blake and a 1st for Guentzel. Half of heimosalmi for the retention and the other half for smith (who isn’t working in Pittsburgh).

Lindholm got a worse value winger with a higher cap hit, a 1st and some meh prospects for a guy in a premium position. Canes are giving you better value in this trade.

Bunting is awful defensively and lives in the penalty box, that's the last thing they need on a line with Malkin who is already bad defensively and lives in the penalty box.

So again, not enough value for the penguins.

Bunting doesn’t live in the box. He also out draws penalties by a good margin than he takes. Dubas will be well interested in a guy he loved in Toronto
