We could probably get Duclair for less than that. Also, I’d imagine MTL would strictly be looking for a future asset in exchange for Savard.

Oh look, Habs easily decline another Savard trade.

Better off trading for Savard then moving Smith in the off-season to recoup assets I would think.
Not sure Pittsburgh is in a position to be adding $3.5M behind Letang and Karlsson.
They should consider Kovacevic instead.

Yeah, I’m definitely not in favor of trading for Savard. It just wouldn’t make any sense in terms of roster construction or asset management.

Agreed, league minimum player to pick up 15 minutes behind those two. Use the $ on forwards.

3.5 mil per to play 11 minutes a night. No thanks.

Do not want Duclair. I will never forget his time in CBJ, and Torts, who is usually the most square up guy with his guys at practice, just going hells balls on him at center ice in practice. He called him out for his BS and then he was gone shortly after. He's like dealing with center ice drifter goal poacher hero syndrome Erod on steroids. No thanks.

I don't know. I think Duclair likely goes for less than that but I've argued against the Sharks making any trade that helps the Pens this year. Barring a bottom 10 finish or a lottery the Sharks own the Pens' 1st round pick so any trade that helps the Pens likely hurts that pick. It would take extra assets to offset the potential worse pick in the 1st round.

Guy can score. Team needs scoring. He’s cheap.

These trades do both.

15 hard minutes and PK time is invaluable. Especially in playoffs.

If we could then do it obviously…and maybe, but I also think MTL wants to win soon and they need some good veteran players. They need Smith more than they need Savard with all the D they have coming up.

he can only score goals because he drifts around center ice looking to poach. This is why he doesn't stick anywhere. He's a me me me my stats guy. Look i scored the goal!!!!! I'm the hero!!!!

No thanks.

Huh? You spent more cap on D and less on F?
Then next year there's 3.5 million committed to a guy playing 15 minutes, we need that job to be held by a league minimum player and use that cap to add scoring forwards
