This Hawk fan would have a hard time not saying yes. Full disclaimer I am not a big Murphy fan even if I see a role in the rebuild as a stabilizing vet to pair with all the LHD prospects we are trying to develop into NHL players. A 1st, even a late one without retention on Murphy is a good starting point and Timmins gives you a young RHD NHL player to bridge the gap to Rinzel and whichever RHD we likely draft this Summer.

This doesn't do anything...

You beat Florida by guys like Domi, Bert, Rielly, Knies... Not bringing in a bunch of bangers...

I'd rather go after TVR and Eddy bc they are cheap and help the Leafs with what they need

No you need guys to keep Bennett, Tkachuk, Lomberg, Gadz in check and they were looking at Maroon as well. These guys will target our best players and we will have no answer. What is TVR gonna do? I don’t expect them to win but at least not get your main guys manhandled. Only spent a 1st on a good RHD with term other pieces are expendable IMO

That's why you paid for Reaves, Bert, Domi, Benoit and already have guys like Rielly, Knies, McMann... If the top players don't want to get targeted, stand up to them...

Eddy will help with toughness... And TVR's huge body who blocks shots...

No need to solely get 4rth liners who'll hit to deal with the cowards in FLO

I totally agree with your take.

I also am on record as saying I’m not as enamoured with Murphy as most but understand the value he brings to a young NHL D core. Having said that if you can get a 1st round pick without retention on Murphy, that’s about as much as you can hope for.

The Tinordi/Timmins component of the deal I look at as a 1 for 1 swap. Neither guy is a game changer and are best suited as # 7 or 8 in the rotation. Tinordi brings toughness but is disposable with Megna in the picture. Timmins is a righty with a little offence, who can be serviceable until better options are found.

Let’s be serious here. Reaves won’t see playoffs. Bert hasn’t dropped the gloves at all. Domi is a bit out of weight category here. Benoit is a gem and we need more of him. Rielly, Knies and McMann don’t fight. This D core is too soft, core 4 is too soft and bottom 6 is too small. Florida will eat us alive as is.

The very first game, Bert got into it... There are other examples... Domi would fight anyone... If Toronto needs too, Keefe will play Reaves... Rielly, Knies and McMann have all fought whithin the last 6 months

And to your point, Keefe won't always play goon or 4rth line "tough guys"

The Hawks aren't trading Murphy.
