Take out Juulsen and I'd do it. Although even with the retention I don't know if the Canucks can do it capwise

    You can remove basically.

To me, this is just as unrealistic as Calgary fans asking for Lohrei and a #1.

It doesn’t contemplate that the other part of the deal needs to be valued as a 2nd or 3rd round pick

Also, the retention is too high if they are taking Grz.

grzelcyk has been a good player for a long time. i kind of doubt that he forgot how to play hockey, and that this is just a rough stretch.

the flames shouldn't expect to get too much of significant value beyond a first round pick for hanifin.

Grzelcyk is also a pending UFA, Who i seriously 100% doubt that Calgary has any desire to re-sign. And with talk of Hanifin wanting to come home to Boston. The Bs are probably better off just waiting.

I keep on seeing that boston should be paying through the nose because hanifin wants to be in boston so bad. if that's the case, with his trade protection, shouldn't the bruins be paying less?

You would think so. Pretty much the same situation with Alex DeBrincat to Detroit. As we were the only ones he'd sign long term with.

given that he's a rental, my mind went to taylor hall. pretty underwhelming return for him, and it seemed like it was a similar situation, if people are correct that hanifin wants to be in boston.

I don’t know how frequent he can update, but an 8 team no trade list likely wouldn’t likely provide the same leverage as hall’s protection. That said, it sounds like other GMs believe he’s signing in Boston according to Renaud Lavoie.

Things change, so I’d do Lohrei and a 2nd to remove the uncertainty of him liking a trade location. If they truly see no value in Grz to balance salaries, I offer Forbort and ask them to retain the difference in salary between Hanifin and either. I’d be concerned that Calgary would be on Forbort’s 3 team no trade list

I think they could sign Grz personally and their depth chart ain’t exactly fantasti regardless of last nights results smile

Can't really see more than 3-5 teams being able to make a serious pitch for Hanifin. his NTC should be fine to block a move.

One of the left shot D would have to move. And I'm fine with Lohrei and a second. No appetite for Lohrei and a first.
