Oilers get to offer Pettersson a contract and add term.
Canucks get a new #1c to replace the outgoing EP for another season

I think Oilers need to add a 2nd and prospect.

Canucks need to add. The only reason they deal Pettersson is because they know they cannot afford him (which they cant. He is probably gone after this year) EDM would be in the drivers seat here. Drai has an extra year on his deal at a reasonable number. Pettersson is going to want 12m a year. This move, give the Nucks 1 more shot before having to blow it up. If they make this deal, it would then be EDM who would have to make sacrifices to their roster to try and resign Pettersson. If Im EDM, Im asking the Nucks what's in it for us?

Canucks can easily afford Pettersson. They have over 36M in cap room this offseason. There is very little chance he’s gone after this year. They don’t do this deal as Draisaitl could easily walk as a UFA after next season. If I’m VAN, I’m asking the Oilers what’s in it for us?

lol OK. Good luck with that lol They are looking at approx 25 million in raises due in the next 2 years. Caps not going up that much
