Deadline

Created by: princessTom
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 12, 2024
Published: Feb. 12, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Doubt BOS moves assets for Hanifin, or that this package would get it done, or that CGY would take back Forbort. Could upgrade the 2nd to a 1st, but I'd personally prefer to keep assets and wait until July 1st to sign him

MIN trade has a little more uncertainty, value could be off, can't see the price for 2 depth guys being too expensive
Trades

Not enough for Hanifin, deal would be beat by other teams.

Remove Forbort and the picks and add Lysell and a first then we may have a good offer, otherwise this is an easy pass for the Flames.

doubt it. if lohrei is in the deal, the bruins offer will be tough to beat.

that's cute. is this your first deadline or something? so what you think your deadline rental is going to get is a 1st, a 2nd, a 5th, not one but TWO top prospects, a B/C prospect, with no cap dump.

Go ahead and find one comp for that sort of deal this century.

Look at what the Bruins paid for Lindholm, don't expect to pay any less.

Look at every defender traded recently that is in the same category as Hanifin at the deadline. Hanifin is without a doubt worth more than that.

Pretty confident that hes gonna re-sign wherever he gets traded and considering hes from Boston thats pretty much a done deal.

Either way your offer isn’t enough and gets outbid by anyone so try again.

Seem like a pretty fair offer with the Wild. As a Wild fan, I would accept.

we have precedent for that too. the extension doesn't tend to change the value much.

so go on and find just one single comp to justify the asking price you think should be expected. just one.

lindholm is significantly better, and came with a multi-year cap dump. so ya, i would expect its less.

what you're expecting is way way way way more. the first and a top prospect thing just doesn't happen.

First of all, is the top prospect in the room with us?

Cause im not seeing it and second of all if you’re expecting to get Hanifin without giving up a first you’re truly dreaming, so no need for a comp how about you make a decent offer first.

So you expect Lysell, Lohrei, and a 1st for a few months of Hanifin? squinty smile You forgot to throw in Huberdeau

To ANA for 50% retained Lindholm:
John Moore (multi-year cap dump)
Vaakanainen (former 1st rounder who couldn't stay healthy/crack Bruins lineup, was never gonna work out for him in BOS)
1st
2 2nds (compensation for 2 years of cap dump)

What was propsed to CGY for Hanifin:
Forbort (2 month cap dump)
Harrison (mid-tier prospect)
Lohrei (replaces the late 1st round pick)
2nd
5th (to a 3rd team to retain 50% so CGY doesn't have to)

Pretty similar deals, except CGY doesn't do the retaining and only takes Forbort on for the rest of this szn

don't know who mason lohrei is?

trades get made with a high end prospect and additional non first round pick assets all the time. the first with the top prospect isn't a real world concept come deadline time.

yes i agree, its similar value, though I think Lohrei makes it more valuable than the lindholm package. factor in that lindholm is just way way better than hanifin, and whats proposed is fair, if not generous.

I would argue Lohrei is worth more than a late 1st, hence why the propsed package for Hanifin doesn't contain a 1st, some Flames fans don't seem to be familiar with him

I'd also argue Hanifin and Lindholm are not that far off in terms of skill, obviously Lindholm was great for the first year + he was in Boston, but this szn he's been pretty disappointing, hopefully he gets back into form soon

sounds like its injury related. he was pretty banged up at the end of last season.

regarding their relative values, I think this is something of a shiny new toy syndrome. Lindholm has had norris and AS votes in multiple years as a defensive defensemen. that's hard to do. I have always viewed him as a low end 1, or an elite 2. Hanifin I've always viewed as a low end 2, and a good 3. There's nothing wrong with that. He's still worth a lot. It's just weird that flames fans think he's worth unprecedented value, and get defensive when the rational take is suggested. This isn't abnormal. happens at the deadline every damn year.

Hopefully its just injury related

Regardless of whos better, I'd gladly have both in the top 4, at the right price of course

i doubt a broken foot is something that players get over quickly.
