Bahahahahahaha. Mtl doesn't have enough to even get Buffalo thinking about moving Peterka. That package is embarrassing

That's a funny trade. Real value would be Guhle and your 2024 1st

Come on man, he's a good player but he's not a ppg player and may never be. Wouldn't get our 2024 1st by itself

Just goes to show he won't be traded. That would be the ask I'd make if I'm Sabres GM looking to trade him to Montreal. If the answer is no, I'll keep the top 6 forward we have who can easily project to be a perennial 30 goal player

This is all hypothetical but if you're actually a GM and asking for a teams best defenseman who is the same age, performing well and their top 5 pick for Peterka then you'd be laughed out of the room.

That's like asking for Owen Power and Buffalos 2024 pick for Cole Caufield

Montreal would still have to add. Peterka is untouchable

I wonder how much over Newhook Buffalo gets for JJP. Don't get me wrong the kid is good, but we are looking for market value.

A couple of comments to put this all into perspective.
True JJ would not return Guhle and the Habs 2024, but that would be the asking price as he is not about to be traded.
He has already exceeded last years goals and pts with 31 games remaining to be played.
This improvement has to be put into context of the entire team performance, he is only one of three Sabres who have outperformed last year.

As to Newhook, let's just say Colorado did really well in that deal and Montreal did not.
They moved Newhook and used the second to get Ross Colton, while Newhook has been injured.

But to the Newhook v Peterka comparison, JJ has played in 54 fewer games scoring only 4 fewer goals.
You tell me who has more value.
It is not a stretch of the imagination that JJ could return the same as DeBrincat (7th OA, 2nd and 3rd) or Hagel (16th OA and 2024 first) since they all have 18 or 19 goals this season.
