Interesting, guess it would depend on what Buffalo scouts thought of Schmidt. If they think he could be a top 4 dman this could probably get it done

Tampa Bay isn't tading all that for what's essentially two rentals. They won't be able to afford re-signing Mitts.

No chance this gets it done. Mittelstadt is a consistent center on a team lacking consistency. The Sabres have something that most teams covet and thats three true centers. They havent had this 2006-07. They would be fools to trade it away especially to a team like Tampa and bail them out of salary cap jail. Additionally, who wants draft picks so far down the road.

cap space wouldnt be a prohibitor to tampa anymore as sergachev will be put on LTIR and they will be able to afford anyone on the market.

I wouldn't be so sure of that JBB has on multiple occasions said I will do whatever I can to win with this core.

My take is that if Tampa is trading all that for a rental, it would be for a D man like Hanifin, not an upgrade to the bottom 6.
