i think frank needs to go back to nhl24. That center line is not deep at all, you can insulate them with the best wingers but that's still an issue

Wouldn't really be thrilled with this, but I don't think it is terrible value. Friedman said Dubas expects a Giroux package for Guentzel @50% retained and Giroux got more alone. Ned is a cheap rental having a good season too so at least an additional mid round pick added I would think. Otherwise, I expect Dubas could get more elsewhere.

Yup, we'll talk Guentzel while our centers flounder around. I love the Ned idea tho

I saw this, too. I hate it. Seravelli seems to be hanging this idea on the fact that Nichuskin and Landy might not be back for playoffs. If that's the case (especially no Nichuskin) then the Avs will have a tough playoffs even if they could pick up a 2C. The 2C problem will still be there next year when Guentzel is undoubtedly gone. Crazy idea, like usual, from Seravelli.

Not a bad package IMO.
Though I'd say the Avs should look for a center rather than a winger for this playoffs run.
Also, at that price, he needs to have an extension locked before trade. Then, do the Avs have enough cap the following years if Landeskog returns ?

Would think Dubas would prefer to get a young player and or solid prospect instead of just getting all picks. That will surely be between 25-32.

you realize Jake can play center right?

Not that this gets him anyway. 2 late round picks aren't going to do it.
They are looking for an blue chip prospect as the main prize, along with the late 1st.

You're the first person I've seen that has said Guentzel can play center. Do you have anything to substantiate this (other than "just trust me bro")?

How would the Avs re-sign him? Or would this just be an all time expensive rental

I’m not shocked given how much of a fool that guy is that he’d think this is the best offer.

I mean ok, but so has Mikko Rantanen. Andrew Cogliano is probably a better example of that. He can play center, but he has been a winger forever, and the Avs clearly don't want to try him there

Cogliano is 36 and burned out which is why COL doesn't want him on the ice. As for Rantanen they need guys who can play with MacKinnon.
They aren't going to kill the 1st line to help the 2nd.
Anyway, Jake is more than capable of playing center, he's done it before. Believe me if Sid or Malkin was down long term, he'd be moved over again.
Since there isn't really anyone out there to play center, he'd probably be the best option you have.

Colorado actual does want Cogs on the ice. Dude broke his neck and they still took the initiative to re-sign him, understanding that there were risks with that. As for the kill the first line for the second, we have Lehky and Drouin. They could easily put Mikko on the second line and have shown in the past that they're willing to do it (not very often albeit). Of course, they're probably not going too, and even if they did, Mikko is not a center. Just because he CAN play center doesn't mean he SHOULD. He's clearly better suited with his talents to be a wing. So it is for Jake Guentzel.

"I watched the games. Trust me bro"

You expect us to spend 1500+ hours watching every minute of Jake Guentzels career. C'mon man. The rest of us have lives. That's not laziness, it's common sense.
