The retention is likely too much for NSH honestly.

They still have Duchene on the books for his buyout for the next few years and $4m retention on Johansen for next season— not to mention $2m still with Turris. I can’t see them retaining nearly $3.5m more with McDonagh on top of all of that. That would be nearly $12m in retention for the next 2 seasons.

I just don’t see it unless it’s an overpay, which this isn’t.
