And which team is offering that?? Go try and ask for another teams top prospect+1st and get laughed out of the room

Yeah, just like Lindholm wasn't going to get a 1st and a top prospect because "he was having a bad year".

Markstrom and Hanifin are having excellent seasons. Considering Markstrom is the only reason Calgary is winning games, teams will pay for that.

You didn’t get Willander or Lekky or even Raty.

For your Bruz comp you’d maybe be looking at Lenni

Holtz being a top 6 caliber prospect is the only reason he is a fit over most winger prospects. Our glut is in the middle 6 but Holtz would be a prospect I take the risk on to be a top 6 caliber guy. I don't think there are enough teams offering center prospects out there for Markstrom. Buffalo would maybe make Savoie available but at 5'9 odds are he ends up as a winger in the NHL anyways. I also doubt Marky would waive to Buffalo.

When it comes to our pending UFA's like Hanifin and Tanev we can be more picky on positional need but not so much with Markstrom

I don't disagree with your premise. However, Markstrom doesn't need to be traded by the deadline. Buffalo has Ostlund as well and a glut of centers. I could see them swinging a deal in the summer.

Calgary only has 2 natural centers on the team, and I don't see Zary moving to Center. Yegor is serviceable, but not a solution long term. Calgary's need has been the same as the last 30 years: a top line center. The team will never go anywhere without one. It should be a priority when trading all assets.

Bruz is the 3rd highest scorer in the OHL, as and RD. Dougie Hamilton and Rasmus Anderson were winners of the same scoring title. It was one of two positions Calgary needed, and Raty hasn't been exactly lighting it up, so Conroy got what we needed. You're just trying to rationalize NJ not having to give up anything tangible in ANY trade, which is ironic considering I'm saying we shouldn't want Holtz.

The OHL is so much worse than it used to be.

Again, if you want that comp
1st, Lenni, Vanacek, 4th, Ethan Edwards for Hanifin.

25 1st just to specify.

Oh I totally agree. Unless someone reaches Calgary's asking price there is no reason at all to trade Markstrom.

However, expecting a team to trade us a top line center caliber player or prospect is not at all realistic. We are probably going to have to draft that. Here's to hoping Cayden Lindstrom or Berkly Catton are available when Calgary makes their selection.

Calgary would decline that. Lenni is a fine prospect but not one Calgary needs at all. Also Vanecek and Kuzmenko are not comparable. Vanecek has had 2 serviceable professional hockey seasons in his career, whereas Kuzmenko has had at least 6. The potential on Kuzmenko bouncing back and having positive value are just significantly higher. Siegenthaler is more in line with Kuzmenko than VV

I agree. You're really hoping for a Tage Thompson situation, or perhaps Wyatt Johnston, where the value isn't 💯 known until a year later
