Description
Good Defence is going to cost too much at the TDL the leafs should not trade their 1st round pick.

BOGO would be a good depth defender and he’s actually been playing around 18minutes in Minnesota so I’m sure he could make the 3rd pair better and then McCabe can play on the second pair. Not ideal but with better defensive forwards maybe it could be ok.

Trenin is a physical and defensive forward.
Sundqvist is a good defensive forward.
Both are good penalty killers and good forechecker that could put one in the net.

Kapanen is speedy and has had some good offensive seasons in the past and maybe coming back to the leafs and his boy Willy will make him pop

Sunny isn;t going anywhere unless he asks to. And if he does do that, 8-10-12 teams lap whatever portion of that offer you have set aside for him.

What are you saying man? Lmao I get you like him but he's nothing more than a bottom six forward. He went for a 4th round pick last season. A point-per-game rookie in the AHL and three draft picks is more than enough. No team is giving up more than that. Keep dreaming.

Sunny brings energy to the lineup, he’s a stud on the PK, and he chose a league minimum salary over better offers, desperate teams might hand over a 2nd rounder.

U are dreaming if u think he could get a second and dreaming if he comes back to a team that probably won’t make the playoffs or compete for a cup

Blues can probably get a 3rd for Kappy—retention costs more, Sunny if he wants to be traded which he doesn’t will bring in a 2nd/3rd. I can’t see the Blues being interested in the 4th, 7th, and C level prospect.

Last year he was trade for a 4th and had literally the exact same stats. A 3rd is generous

The trade

Kappy =3rd
Retention = 7th

Sunny = 4th

Extra prospect in there to be nice

Like I said earlier, Sunny chose a $775k deal to return to STL, he loves it here, check out his twitter and interviews. I’ll save this thread for when he re-signs in the summer.

Maybe he resigns but he could definitely be trading in the mean time and a 4th is what he’s worth.

It make so much sense if the blues are confident in him resigning then trade him for a pick and keep the playing in the summer. That’s good management

Not sure what world you live in, but you also asked for Kap with retention in this trade. I have no idea how much of that offer you figure Sunny would cost. But again, he's not going anywhere unless he asks to. Dude loves the Blues, loves STL, his lady is there, he owns his home there, and he rejected several considerably larger offers to return there for 1 x minimum. And for that minimum, he provides a lot of experience, and a lot of necessary services, and can even play up the lineup in a pinch. Which every contender will crave at the TDL. Because he makes nothing.

Just look around the AGMs here. Damn near every playoff team has 2-3 Sunny AGMs per day. Some teams have more like 8-10 a day. If he goes up, he will be among the most popular players. Again, because he offers a lot for minimum AAV. Nobody is saying he's an all-star, dude.

I never said he’s an All star or thought u were saying he was one. But again for a team the is barley in the playoffs and will probably have to play the avs or some other really good team in the first round ( if u make it) why not go the sunny and say hey we love u and want u back in the summer but we think we can get something for u this year and trade him.

Now for value again

Kappy is a 3rd
Retaining is a late pick like a 7th

Sunny literally got traded with the same stats last year for a 4th

So a 4th and a prospect would probably be enough.

Just cause lots of team want a play the doesn’t automatically mean he goes for a 2nd. GMs aren’t dumb a 4th line centre rental is not worth that much. He’s good at the cost but the impact he makes when he’s on the ice for 12minutes is comparable to other players the teams could get for the same price.

At max he goes for a 3rd but I doubt it

See my comment directly above this. You guys really need to understand that more goes into things than just straight "value" as you perceive it. And if a flood of teams come after someone, the price goes up. That's basic economics. And anyone who roots for a team that will get so desperate it pays a 1st for washed Nick Foligno should understand all that.

Also, please let's not pretend Tverberg is some valuable prospect. The second best asset in the offer isn't any good until three drafts from now. It's not some windfall.

I never said he'd go for a 2nd. But if you do not understand the law of supply and demand in business, I have no idea what else to say here. A player who 10 teams want will cost more than the same player that 1-2 teams want. Obviously.

And some teams actually take care of their players, man. The Blues have given away two guys from their Stanley Cup team for nothing because they asked for moves due to lower playing time. They take care of their guys, even if it costs them a whole 4th rounder three years from now... oh yeah, your claim that he was traded for the same thing last year is false. Detroit got their pick right away, that summer. If you offered a 24 4th, that would be the same thing.
