Can't understand the Eberle trade. Eberle has better production than Robertson but a lot of points are on the PP, time he wouldn't get as a Leafs . Robertson has played well, is cheaper, more years of control. Just don't see how Eberle even makes the better this year over Robertson.

I like the moves for the Leafs overall. I think Edmundson (retained) costs more than a 4th. Likely a 3rd and 5th OR maybe 4th and 5th.

I like the addition of Eberle offensively, but still think the Leafs need a forward to help with PK which is a weakness they need to address.

RE: Robertson vs. Eberle. Thinking long term you are absolutely right. But sometimes you take a gamble. Eberle played well in the playoffs last year and would be highly motivated again.

IMO the Leafs need a defensive minded forward over Eberle or Robertson. A player like Jordan Greenway (Buf), Cole Smith or Trenin from Nashville, Duhaime (Min), Dellandrea (Dal) or maybe even Joel Armia in Montreal if they would retain 50% salary could be helpful additions.

Eberle comes up big in big moments. Look at his playoff stats.

In this line up, in a game 7 situation, I expect one of Domi, Bertuzzi and Eberle to have a big game and score a clutch goal. The core four have proven they don't have it in them.

As for Robertson, he's not big enough to have an impact in a playoff series. I still don't trust him against competitive and bigger teams. Eberle has proven he can score in the playoffs.

It's a strange trade proposal. Both players make 1.1m, both are UFAs in 2025. The better player (who ever it might be) wouldn't be traded by his team. Think you're right about Hamonic...he ain't moving.

Treliving liked Hamonic in Calgary. Harmonic might waive to get a chance at the cup. If there's an injury in the playoffs I want him going in rather than Timmins.

But if Hamonic is better than Timmins, why do the Sens to it?

He's not better. Timmins has more upside. But Leafs are in a cup window and getting an extra vet to serve as injury replacement seems prudent. Hamonic can handle playoff minutes, Timmins can't.
