if im columbus i accept the heck out of that deal. we flip an undrafted 31 year old fourth liner for a third round pick and a serviceable LHD? sure the money isn't great but we can easily make that work.

trade/renounce Jake Bean's RFA rights this summer, trade Provorov at the deadline/in the summer. we don't have another premium LHD ready at all behind werenski/mateychuk. knazko and svozil need time to cook for sure and girard makes us immediately better and gives those players time. we dump peeke and boqvist this summer and our d corp for two seasons would look like

werenski - jiricek
mateychuk - severson
girard - gudbranson
blankenburg/christiansen

then summer 2026 when we have to spend a bunch of money (fantilli + any player who signs a two year this summer (likely kent johnson and yegor chinakhov)), girard only has one year left and just a 9-team no trade so we could easily flip him $1 million retained to a contender who needs an upgrade.
