Adam Larsson is not worth a first. I get he's the typical physical shutdown D but he has been struggling a lot in recent seasons and there are other candidates worthy of a 1st, just not him. All the other players listed are worthy of a first - yes.

Larsson has been playing 23 minutes a game for 2 seasons now. He got Seattle to the 2nd round of the playoffs last year, where they lost in 7 to Dallas. He is a very good defensive dman, who is physical. He is exactly what the Leafs need.

How is he struggling?

Adam Larsson isn’t that good. Not sure where everyone’s obsession with him came from.

Hanifin would be nice but based on reports, I have zero faith in him staying beyond this playoff run. Weegar would take a lot more than just our 1st. He’s a legit #1 D man. Obviously I’d give up a 24’ first for him, same way I’d give it up for a player like Slavin or Mcavoy. But that just ain’t happening.
Rasmus Anderssen is another (and perhaps the only other) good option, though.

Not sure what you see in him, but when I watch him he is far from an effective shutdown defenceman. He looks average at best and brings practically nothing else to the table. He pretty much just sounds like Luke Schenn (based on the information you have provided). Not exactly first-round-pick-worthy if you ask me.

His analytics are terrible and the eye test is very telling too. It's Ben Chiarot all over again; giving bottom pairing defenseman top minutes to showcase to the league that 'yes he is indeed a top 4 defenseman.' He was an amazing DFD a few years back, not anymore though. His defense was serviceable last year but this year it has dropped down. Also, he did not get Seattle to the 2nd round: It was players like Eberle, Gourde (who has had a rough tumble this season), Dunn, and Oleksiak. Jamie Oleksiak is who you think Larsson is - a physical defender who actually has good defensive impacts. No doubt the Leafs need a physical DFD: Larsson ain't it.

Hanifin- waste of a first with no chance of re-signing
Andersson- ask is to high for the leaf
Weegar- what would the price be?
Larsson- Don't know much about his abilities.

Now this is just silly

Larsson would get a first. He eats a lot of minutes is good defensively and does all the things you want for a defensive dman

Also where's the struggle talk coming from lul. He's still been good for SEA this year

His analytics are terrible and from the eye test he’s not performing as good for top-4 standards. He’s a top-6 DFD in my honest opinion and I don’t think he’s worth a 1st. Eating up minutes is pointless if your defensive impact isn’t good enough. Now can I ask you where you get this idea that he’s been performing well…especially THIS year out of all seasons where his defence was serviceable?
