Not a bad offer for Toropchenko, but I think I would rather take a chance on Toropchenko developing a little more. He has these weird flashes of really good hands and I think it would be better just to keep him.

Man that would be a bad TDL

Carrier is third pair in NSH and is undersized. Get what hes doing but against BOS or TBL nah

Toropchenko is not a good player. Averages 12 mins a night and his analytics are garbage. Any one of our depth guys are immediately better, especially with Mcmann being on a hot streak

I see what u mean but realistically it doesn’t matter where he is in Nashville. I wouldn’t consider McCabe a 3rd pairing guy but look where he’s playing on our roster. Carrier is undersized but with the development of Benoit and McCabe together there a modern day shut down pairing. Carrier is a minute munching defensemen who can throw the body as well as act as a support if in need. We’ve been desperate for a decent RHD in years and he’s just entering his prime run. If he is put on a team like the leafs he will reach his potential. Tanev and walker will be asking for too much and tanev probably won’t fit the salary without retention which some clubs won’t want to do. Ultimately it could be out goal to trade for another shutdown D such as someone of tame stuff skill but majority would be priced real high. I’m just addressing our need for a RHD who’s fairly young.

I mean it does. If a fringe team is playing him third pair why would we increase his role

For instance Luke Schenn played top pair in Van with Hughes. When he came here we paired him with Rielly and didnt look back. Same with Ilya Lybushkin

Carrier is playing with Lauzon on NSH third pair how does that = first pair here. Answer it dont

If your targeting a guy out of NSH a guy who makes more sense is Fabbro who rn NSH has put in and out of the lineup in their top pairing

I don’t think the blues are too interested in moving Toropchenko. Regardless of his analytics (which I’m not sure why anyone is concerned about as a bottom 6er) he impacts every game and has a really good motor.

Usage and who a player shares the ice with is also really important though. Sure Fabbro is on the top pair but he also plays with Roman Josi and is consistently deployed with the best players on the ice. In reality, his role is a lot smaller than someone like Carrier who, although is on the third pair, is deployed against tough matchups.

If you look at Fabbro's stats with and without Josi they are still very good

I once thought that to then his evolving hockey chart came out and it showed how good hes been this year which makes the 13 HS make 0 sense
