There will be better options in free agency.

There would be but I don't know if we would have the cap space to sign them. I think Roy is a perfect fit, Brodie, Samsonov and McMann have been awesome recently and Kubalik is a big body, physical presence who still has potential. Kapenen is just for nostalgia in this scenario. I could get rid of Domi but we could get him cheap the way he has been playing and then he has a breakout year

Timmins isn't worth a 4th. Hawks pass.

Timmins still has value and has promise to grow into a true top 6 D as opposed to a 7th. For a 4th round pick could be palatable to some teams but most likely not the Hawks. They are in a rebuild phase needing players of youth and higher ceiling as well as players to make sure they reach the cap floor. A player at a fairly low salary of 1.1 million would not be of interest.

The thing is Timmins is now 25, he has passed the prospect stage and moved on the suspect stage. He lacks one of the most essential abilities an athlete can have… availability. Injuries have derailed him to the point he can’t be counted on. Hawks pass.

My apologies for not being clear. My comment came from Chicago's POV. We can find a RD in free agency and keep the pick. If not, Chicago can re-sign Megna to play his off-side.
