Hawks decline, this is probably the absolute opposite of what they would like to do. Chicago currently has 8 picks in the first three rounds, if anything they would probably be looking to bundle two or three to move up into the back end of the first round.

Moldenhauer hasn't really moved in value from being a 3rd rounder, Timmins is not worth acquiring with having an extra year and being consistently in and out of the line up, he's become the D man that was traded for Curtis Douglas again. 2nd is the asking price for Tanev without retention. Not a good package for Calgary.

Yeah, makes sense. If any contending team (or any team at that) was willing to give a late 2nd to move a few spots back and gain another pick that would be something the Leafs should try to do to land Tanev and outbid teams (if they don't get offered a 1st)

In this scenario, Calgary wouldn't retain (the 5th they send would be used for retention). I think Moldenhauer is a B-level prospect, he's struggled about with the Wolverines but I fully expect that as he gets stronger, he's going to earn an NHL contract out of college and become a really useful player. If Calgary doesn't value him, there are other similar prospects (Tverberg, Hirvonen, Chadwick, Lisowsky, etc).

If no one steps up and offers a 1st, IMO a 2nd + B-level prospect (Moldenhauer or someone else) + TImmins would be enough for Tanev (could be a bit more of a bidding war breaks out). The only problem in Tanev to TOR is probably CGY not wanting to deal with him IMO

I think the Leafs would decline, too! The space between a late 2nd and a 3rd is actually pretty small. I would think the Leafs would either trade one or more of those picks in deadline deals or just be happy to be a contending team that's still adding a few of the top 100 draft picks.

Nashville declines. I think Trenin will fetch more if he is available, so either add a prospect or upgrade the pick.

And if you need retention on a 1.5 mil contract it'd probably be smart to dump a contract in one of these trades instead of paying for retention on all of them.

I mean we have 743K with a 23-man roster so we don’t need retention. Would a 4th + Abruzzesse be enough without retention?

I personally think that offer would get beat by a number of teams, but if it were the only offer on the table, sure.
