Dont think WPG takes that.
I think the other two are relatively fair value.

No chance the Jets help Pittsburgh out and pay to take an awful contract off their hands.

Rakell is the same age and outproduces Iafallo every year by a pretty significant margin…even in a down year Rakell has more points in less games this year?

Really? Why? Imo if anything it would be the pens who decline the jets trade?

Since Iafallo came into the league in 2017-18 (7 seasons), he's outscored Rakell twice (2019-20 and 2020-21). The only significant margins were 2022-23 (Rakell by 24 points) and 2017-18 (44 points, Iafallo's rookie year). They're both 3rd liners, and the gap in production in no way, shape, or form makes up for the gap in AAV ($1M) and term (3 years). I'm taking the guy at $4M for one more year over the guy at $5M for the next 4 every time. His contract is the entire reason WPG say no.

Lol. He's got 3 more points than Iafallo and is also more expensive and carries that awful contract until he's 35. You'll need to pay to dump Rakell. No one is giving you a comparable, cheaper player for him.

In how many less games? Rakell and Iafallo are not comparable at all. Iafallo has never sniffed Rakells production? You don`t need to pay to dump Rakell at all he will be a 50+ point per 82 game producer every year of that contract. Pens just have too many like him on long-term deals.

Read the post by @caseyflyman he has everything pretty well laid out. Iafallo and Rakell are very similar. Iafallo just has a far better contract. Rakell is paid to be a top 6 player but produces like a bottom sixer. Iafallo is paid to and produces as a bottom sixer.

As for the games played, it's not Iafallo's fault that Rakell can't stay healthy or is a healthy scratch. Their production is pretty much the same this year.

It's a good thing you like Rakell, because with that contract, you're stuck with him.
