Wow, no to that Philly trade. Seeler isn't a top 4 dman and Laughton is really f'in bad by all metrics, and Philly has been trying to move him since the summer, he's verifiably a negative. Jokiharju alone is too much, let alone Ostlund. Don't understand the point of the Edmonton trade. You also can't retain 4+ salaries

Pretty sure it's not just Philly trying to move Laughton, there's been heavy interest for him for over a year now, some reports suggest Briere declined an offer of 1st+ in value for Laughton during last year's draft. They're not simply just gonna ship him away.

That being said, that is wayyyyy too much for him. Would be a more reasonable package without Östlund, but does BUF even need Laughton? Don't see it...

Boston has zero cap space. Every move they make has to be cap neutral or cap positive. There is nobody worth moving out to add Z. Not really interested in him. Just doing their due diligence. They have scouted everyone from selling teams. Does not mean anything.

Should the Caps end up trying to contend at the deadline, I think they might be willing to do that as a replacement for Oshie, though I think they'd want to move someone other than Sutter since he's a decent contributor in Hershey and might make the 4th line next year. Don't think they'll end up buying at the deadline though.

    1- we don’t “need” Laughton
    2- he’s declined anyways
    3- don’t want a $3mil 4C

It’s an AWFUL trade idea for the Sabres
