Gallagher's buyout is horrid so I'd just ride it out, Dvorak right now we need him, we do not have enough NHL centers and he has 1 year left so might as well keep him

Buying out Gallagher would be a tough decision. Heart and soul player.... and one whose presence in the locker room I am sure is respected.

Dvorak? No, I think retaining 50% he is more than tradable. What you expected was a 2nd line centre. We never was, and was never going to be that. But as a 3C, he is above average. I think a $2.25 million Dvorak would look appealing to some clubs looking for a short term fix. Further, the UFA market may have options, but I am of the opinion guys like Wennberg, Novak or Bleudger all see $3 million. So I would try amd move him.

Why though

Multiple reasons.

1st : both of them are right now very useless for the Habs. Dvorack is always injeured sadly and Gallagher can't anymore follow the game due to accumulation of injuries. Also, Gallagher makes right now somes unnecessary and bad penalties who can cost the game (and he did it one yesterday).

2nd : that's open more than 9M in their cap space for the next season. They can add somes refresh players in the line-up, and you give-up on somes other Bergevin's heritage players.....

3rd : Dvorack and Gallagher have a negative value, especially Gallagher. And Kent Hughes don't like to paid for dumping away a contract (imagine the cost to dump Gallagher's contract away........)

I think you really undervalue Dvorak.

He isn't worth the contract. He was never a 2C.

Eat half the last year, and you likely get an asset.

I don't think his buyout is so horrible as what we can think. The cap will likely gonna reach more than 100M in like 2028 (87,7M in 24-25 and maybe more than 90M in 25-26). So, that's isn't a big deal as what we can think. I can tell you somes horribles buyouts for the cap who happened recently, like the Parise-Sutter buyout.

But you aren't close to the cap and aren't close to competing, just bite the bullet as long as you can and not mess up your cap 6 years from now

Agree with that, but I really don't see any realistic scenario that he will gonna give us somes assets.

For what reason? They don't need cap space so buyouts make no sense it just prolongs the issue.

Dvorak's issue is he can't stay healthy. Best case scenario he bounces back and habs retain 50% and trade him next year, worst case scenerio he ends up on LTIR again. Buying him out would be nonsense.

Gallagher can just be the 13th or 14th forward. No need to buy him out either.

Do not suggest a buyout ever unless you have plans to use that cap space which makes a buyout necessary. You have a 20 man roster with $28M in cap space

Cap space is King.

Think outside the box.

The Canucks will be in the market I think, Teddy has out priced himself there, and Hronek and Petterson are priorities.

Could see the Leafs kick the can on that too.... blueline priorities.

Can we all say Tampa? They still have cap issues.

The Avs.... Cap issues again, and a serious upgrade on RyJo.

Hughes could easily get a 3rd here. Maybe a 2nd just because he is Hughes.

If you have that much cap space and are rebuilding just ride those contracts out, they'll be expired by the time you really need the cap space. Better than being burned with a buyout penalty after the contracts would've expired
