LOL you're not getting Ned for that. He'll get a 2nd. He's top 10 in SV% and has the best stats of any available back-ups.

I wouldn't do this as Blues.

If were retaining on Buch I would start thinking in the ballpark of

Bourgault
Broberg

I'd say the either of the Toffoli trades would be good comparables. The one that sent him to CGY was a futures trade and the one to NJ was more of a hockey trade.

No one in the league is paying a 2nd for a backup goalie. His value is probably a 5th, you might get a 4th if a few teams are interested.

Buch >> Toffoli

Plus there is no reason for us to sell Buch. I'm fine resigning him and Armstrong most likely is to. It's going to take a haul if somebody wants to swipe very strong defensive winger, who also happens to be a ppg player over the past three years.

As far as if or why STL should or shouldn't move him is not something I know about or commenting on, but Buch is NOT >> Toffoli. They're really on the same level.

Toffoli's two way game is not as strong as Buch and Toffoli has never been a ppg player over any stretch of his career.

Buch has better defense and offense, so I can pretty confidently say one is better than the other.

Robin Lehner when he shipped to Vegas to backup Fleury. Was that fast enough for you?

Nope, they're pretty much on the same level. Toffoli is definitely a better finisher and Buch has a little better two-way game, so it balances.

A massive difference between this trade and the Ekholm trade is the mulit-year retention you are expecting STL to take on. They're also completely different players at different positions with very different values. But, at a base, with the multi-year retention this is not gonna do it. 0 relevant future players... c'mon man

Robin Lehner was not a backup when he got traded, yes he became the back up when he got to Vegas but he went on to take Fleurys job. Nedeljkovic has always been a backup and will always be a backup… let’s look at recent actual back up goalies traded, Scott Wedgewood for a 4th, Quick for Hutchinson and a 7th.

I don't even know if he is better finisher than Buch. Their goal totals are basically the per game.

You're not really good at judging hockey players...
