Sabres could do something like this imo
We don’t really have use for the players though,
we’d probably just want better picks

Problem is contracts have to go out for contracts to come in. Something a lot of people forget (not suggesting you have, just that it gets forgotten) is the contract limit.

First trade is an overpay by the Avs so gets declined. Second trade is an overpay by the Avs and the Avs can't realistically afford Allen going forward even at 50% retention and the third trade is kinda 'meh'. Can see the Avs bringing back EJ, kind of move they might make but that's about it.

need to get two contracts out and I'm pretty sure EJ will only play for buffalo and Colorado

Sure
But if YOU “need” us to take contracts, it’s not gonna count towards any “value” in the trade
We’d just assume take expiring contracts from u guys & get better draft picks

Girgs is our longest tenured player & wears an A for us
That’s worth more to us than a 4th
And nothing else in that package has any value for us that we’d want

We’ll likely keep him if that’s the best offer

And we aren’t retaining on Johnson & Girgs for free either

You’ve also got us retaining on 2 players in this deal & getting no compensation back
It just doesn’t work at all for us

Trades need to work for BOTH SIDES dude

Certainly, but tbh there's nothing there that really works for the Avs either. ZG is kinda 'meh' to us though I get why he means a lot to BUF fans, and tbh I'd rather give Meyers a shot there over making that trade. EJ is sentiment more than anything but he might help with the leadership issues that the Avs seem to be suffering from. Losing the Condor and Landy at the same time wasn't great for the Avs.

ehh I mean a 4th and 7th round pick in this hockey economy aren't essentially free, but if its not good for you than we can just chit chat with them in July. all good

I'm good with this, plus macdermid would be fine as a 7th d or 13th forward, at least for the remainder of the season in a tryout role. Not doing Meyers any favors here, there's no room at all. He's ahl bound.

people sleep on Meyers ill tell ya that. if anything you guys use MacDermid to police and we sub out another NHL Ahl fringe player for Meyers (we need to do two contracts for two)

A 7th is basically nothing
And a 4th (maybe) covers the retention

So like i said, u essentially want them for free
ZERO CHANCE

Macdermid is UFA after this season
And we already have guys to play 7th D or 13th F
He has no value to us

We aren’t interested in a lotto ticket dude

A more reasonable deal….
A 3rd & 6th for Girgs & Johnson
If u want retention, make it two 3rds

And as i said, we’ll take back contracts if u need us to,
but just make them expiring contracts u don’t want bc these players you’re offering have no value to us

You aren't getting Henrique AND dumping Johansen for that. Behrens and Foudy are no-value adds given the Ducks have multiple better prospects already.
