Not getting term on Luke and Mercer to pay Hanifin and Gibson would be a disaster, let alone all the futures you've given up

Small deal? You’re getting back a 26 year old top 4 dman on an extremely team friendly deal in addition to a potential top 9 winger and a 1st round pick. If you think you’re gonna get more than this, you’re not gonna like what you get when Hanifin actually gets moved

They’re not gonna be able to give everyone 6-8 year extensions. You need to be able to bridge certain guys in order to add to your roster

You have bridged everyone and sacrificed a long term window for a slightly better 2 years. Luke will be getting the full 8 years.

The guys I’ve bridged here line up to other guys expiration dates such as Palat and Hamilton. Luke very well may end up getting an 8 year extension because in Fitzy’s eyes, the Hughes brothers can do no wrong, but a bridge for Mercer, Holtz, and Bahl definitely makes the most sense

    Holtz on a bridge, sure.

Mercer and Luke need to be locked up with term

If you want Mercer on a 7-8 year deal this offseason, that’s probably gonna take 6-6.5m like Hagel got in TB. I wouldn’t even consider offering him that deal rn with the way he’s played this year. You can get him at 3.5m for 3 years and then when 2027-2028 season comes along, you sign him to a longer term deal around 7m if you want

You almost certainly will not be looking at only 7 mill on Mercer's next deal if you want him long term.

We have enough potential top 9 wingers don't need more.
Not enough there for us to take back long term cap.
You want space to sign him, pay up.
Not sending a 4th back. lots to not like about this proposal
I think you'll be more surprised by the Hanifin return than I will be, especially if there's an extension signed

In this market, he absolutely is. Who are we to talk? We have Korpisalo and Vanecek as our goalies who are arguably the 2 worst in the NHL

You've been convinced of this "market" by fans on capfriendly. Meanwhile in reality we have multiple GMs talking about how hard it is to get rid of their goalies and virtually no buyers on the market besides us

Really? We already know that Fitzy offered up Holtz in a Markstrom deal. We’re only a year removed from Fitzy refusing to include Holtz in a Meier deal who happened to be the biggest fish on the market. Now he’s offering him and more for a 34 year old goalie

I heard Holtz by himself was on the table (maybe vitek as well) was on the table for Markstrom with an unknown amount of retention.
