There’s no reason to waste assets trading goodrow when he is buyout friendly

The whole buyout is friendly. No cap hit next year, then only $1.1m years after except the 1 year it’s $3m when Trouba and Panarin’s contracts end

$1.1 million will make a difference. Last year we gave arizona a 3rd to eat 2.5 million of kanes contract.

$1.1m + Rempe + Edstrom is still less than goodrow’s cap hit. They’ll be fine

Lindgren, schneider, possibly kakko are all getting raises this offseason. Igor, laf and cuylle the year after. Cap going up just covers raises for some of the core

Regardless of it being buyout friendly, the cost to dump his contract is closer to a 1st rounder than a 4th.

Lindgren won’t get a lot, Schneider should be $2m max and Kakko will probably accept his $2.4m QO lol

After that is Laffy, Igor and Miller. Laffy deserves his raise, Miller depends and Igor shouldn’t get a massive contract

Hence why I said save assets

If all it took to dump was a 4th then there's zero chance they'd rather a buyout than trade him and only give up a 4th. That would be absolutely insane and any owner would fire a GM on the spot that passed that up

With that said obviously the Sharks don't even consider this so it's irrelevant. It would cost a lot to dump that contract

Not enough for Vatrano and not even close to enough to get rid of Goodrow

For that package, you get Ryan Strome, not Frankie Vatrano.
