not really, Pod is still a prospect and you have zero clue what a 1st round pick gets up, they're not by any means a guarantee. So those are effectively two magic beans in Pod and a pick that could both not pan out at all in the NHL and a proven player in Hoglander.

in return you get a legitimate 1st line winger that's a proven 40 goal scorer and a proven ppg player in the post season. That's not a magic bean, it's known.

I don't think Jake gets traded, but if he does it would not shock me that this is the return from VAN. Specially given it wouldn't be the 2024 1st because it's gone.

Not so sure about that. If Adrian Kempe goes on the LTIR list, the Kings would have both the need and the cap space for Smith. This isn't outside the realm of possibility. Nice idea!

Didn't know Kempe was injured.

That's fair then, but still not sure how interested they'd be with his one year left.
