ANYWHERE BUT GET HIM OFF THE TEAM. It pisses me off that Pettersson doesn't even look like he's trying out there. The biggest thing about the Pettersson situation is that the Canucks and Allvin have been upfront and patient with Pettersson and would 100% give him whatever he wants. They proved that they are a legit team that's capable of a potential run and they traded significant assets to bolster the team. On top of that, Pettersson's contract is the backbone to other deals that management has to consider including Hronek, Blueger, Joshua, and 3 more defenders. Him stalling until the end of the summer is a major distraction and puts management in a tough spot. Clearly he doesn't want to be here, or he'd be playing his ass off and trying to work with management.

Yeah I do agree that he's being a bit pissy about the whole situation but..

things will turn out ok, I can't count the endless amount of times that the media has blown a player not signing a contract out of proportion. He will sign long-term in the summer for big money in Vancouver, and if he doesn't than the Canucks can't say they did anything wrong. They're literally 1st in the league with a young core, I mean what else does he want.

I think there's potential to see a Huberdeau for Tkachuck like situation this TDL or before July 1

Lindholm's acquisition especially makes it doable as he and JTM can be the top 6 C's

I doubt Lindholm re-signs tbh. If Pettersson is moved our top 6 C’s will be Miller and someone we acquire in the Pettersson trade

I think it's too soon for a trade deadline type deal. Rutherford wouldn't do that. But it's getting to the point where all the noise is affecting the player and the team. Pettersson's whole body language and attitude reminds me of Miller's last year. Super pissy and selfish, but I feel like Miller's came from his intense desire to win while Petterssons is coming from an egotistical view of himself as a $13mil player that wants out.

If its a blockbuster or a hockey trade it may not be an issue.

As if u get someone of similar caliber back around the same age one could argue that the risk may be worth it

Its all perspective. As lets say he has a ****ty playoffs or makes it clear he dont want to stay the value could start to lower

I think its all perspective on what happens with Pete.

Like he may be their insurance in case he goes I want out.

But in the end nothing wrong with insurance

not a trade deadline deal but July 1st. And I can def see that happening too

    Main question is who?

I think Carolina is top of the list in terms of who can pull off that type of trade. Necas + Jarvis and a 1st maybe?

There are a few teams its just when they do it = availability

If were talking a hockey trade of value in and out at the TDL I could see some teams swing. Just an example if they want an equal caliber similar age guy whose good, GMJR or Allvein go to Toronto and say hey u just extended Willy we want Willy + can we work something out and it starts there. Or Carolina hey u got ABC can we swing for a deal.

Its basically like what CGY did with Chucky. And yes Huberdeau fell off a bridge but nobody could have predicted that big of a fall off. Weegar's been nice though

There will be many teams interested but the package is whats important. Van's probs gonna want players vs picks and prospects as they want to go for it now. So will look for someone of equal caliber

You don't trade Petey now, make a run with this group and if he doesn't want to sign in the summer then trade him for a haul, similar to the Tkachuk situation.

I see why. On a side note it is hilarious how bad Calgary fumbled the Tkachuk trade

I dont think its so much a fumble but more so Huberdeau seems to be a player made for a very specific system and player (Barkov) but there were no warning signs so its one of those unlucky moments

Like I doubt anyone could have predicted that big of a drop. In fact it was more wow they turned a bad situation to good till the season got to the half way mark lul

If Huberdeau was still in the 80-100 point convo I would argue it would be a fair deal still as he would be evening the deal out as Weegar has been good for CGY

oh 100%, I remember thinking Florida got fleeced. But when I thought about it, it seemed more fair. 2 expiring contracts a late first in 2 years and a prospect for a Tkachuk like player, Flordia was going to lose one of them anyways

I think Huberdeau can rebound one day but still
