Yeah big pass on Vlad. Dude is super slow and doesn't play D. Wasn't a positive impact player last playoff. It's a no even if the pick was a 2nd rounder. Would rather go after Eberle or Mantha tbh.

Big overpay for Duclair as well. Novak is not a great Center. Overall it's a no across the board.

I don't want Tarasenko back. But if Drury did go for him again, offer a second and a prospect. If Ottawa says no, walk away.

90% sure that the rangers cannot trade for Tarasenko if he is ratained. Considered against the CBA rules

Sharks pass, don’t need more LD and ultimately the prospects aren’t adding much of anything to the org.

Why would that be? There was no buyout involved, and he signed with the Sens as a free agent. If they had traded him and he had been bought out is what you're thinking of, I think.

He was on the rangers reserve list until June 30th, so it needs to be a full calendar year for them to obtain him retained. It’s like the Deangelo and Canes situation

They can still trade for him, but it has to be at full cap

That's definitely incorrect. The reason for the rule about reacquiring players has the one year limit is to prevent cap circumvention where you trade a player and then get him back for a cheaper price. Because of that, the rule has a caveat that if a contract expires there's no limit.

Quoting: CBArule50point5
If Club A Trades a Player to Club B and retains 30% of the Averaged Amount of such Player's SPC in a Retained Salary Transaction, Club A cannot reacquire such Player's SPC within one (1) calendar year from the date of the Trade. However, if such Player's Retained Salary SPC expires or is otherwise terminated prior to one (1) calendar year from the date of the Trade such that it no longer exists, Club A may reacquire the Player since the Retained Salary SPC no longer exists.

There was a long debate on Twitter with rags media and fans and hockey pros who know the cap and they said the rule is pertained to the player, not the contract. Even though the contract ended, the player was still on the rangers roster

I guess we’ll see if rangers trade for Tarasenko or not

I'm not saying the Rangers will acquire him, but I literally copied my quote from the bottom of page 272/top of page 273 of the CBA (though I added the bolding).
