You’re short a couple 1st rd picks going back to COL. Crack me up here take a back up goalie and 4C for a 22yr old top pairing dman oh and while you are at it kick in a pick.

Ok, then what would be an acceptable or closer trade offer?

As you're pretty new I'll cut you some slack (CF can get brutal at times lol) and you seem to be willing to listen so here goes, and I'll only address the Avs trade as that's 'my boys'.

Byram is a young cost controlled former 4th overall D who was at some points the Avs best D in their run to the cup. On a bit of a down year but going through something akin to the 'sophomore slump'.

Ned is a back up G who has some value but would at best likely be a rental to the Avs. Acciari is a 4th line F. Then you want the Avs to ante up a 3rd on top?

In other threads on here in the past I've often tried to equate players to picks in a kind of 'value'. Mostly as an internal exercise in my mind but sometimes within the actual threads. It's not entirely accurate to do so because there are so many variables involved but it can give you a guideline at least to get close and of course opinions would vary. Byram probably has a value in picks of minimum 2 firsts, and that's been accepted as fair/reasonable by many others in threads from other fanbases (of course there are always the outliers who say he's worth nothing because he's always concussed which is utter nonsense but it still gets spouted). Avs fans (myself included) value him higher but allowing for some bias let's take that as a baseline value.

So ask yourself then if the players you're trading are worth two firsts (and the extra 3rd you've added). I would say Ned....2nd to 3rd depending on whether a team can re-sign him. Acciari....tough to value but I'd say 3rd would be the absolute max you could think of in value. So you can see that to many (if not most) you'd be quite a ways off in your valuation.

I'll comment on the NJ trade.

Jarry, leading the league in shutouts, and knowing that the Devils are getting desperate for a #1, AND having them in the same division, would cost them the 1st, 2nd, and Bahl. Vanecek is a valued as a cap dump, but Pit might accept him as a throw in for Jarry. MP is arguable the Pens best defenseman this year and at least #2. He's on a team friendly deal with term. He's going to cost a ton for the Pens to trade him, we're talking at least a 1st plus, especially to someone in the division. If you want us to retain, it will cost even more. Unless the Pens are in Tank mode (which they'll never be with Sid on the team), he's almost untouchable.

If Colorado moves Byram, the Avs will want a young cost controlled center.

Alex Nedeljkovic would be a solid option for the backup goalie, but he alone isn't worth anything close to Byram.

Noel Accari has almost no value for the Avalanche. They need to populate their bottom six with dirt cheap forwards. 2 more years at $2m is a detriment to the Avalanche.

In short, I don't think there's any realistic scenario where the Penguins get Byram, unless it's a 3 team deal where the Pens acquire a young 2C and flip him to Colorado.

You can’t retain on Smith and we ain’t moving two of our top prospects for him. It’ll be a 3rd. That’s that…

Holtz+Bahl for Pettersson 50%. NJD would be happy to swap out Holtz for another 1st+2nd
1st+2nd+Vitek for Jarry.
