Description
Rangers need a real deal 1RW. Middle six guys playing over their heads aint gonna cut it (no to Vatrano, no to Duclair). Buch fits that profile, and we know he works well with Mika and Kreider. Unfortunately, you need to give to get a player of that caliber, so Othmann's gotta go, as well as potentially 2 1st round picks. Hopefully Berard is the real deal, that would soften the sting of losing Othmann.

I have no idea of Danforth's value or if CBJ needs young defensemen. If they don't, then you can basically switch out Robertson for Korzack, Sykora, BMB, or any non-Berard, non-Perrault player.

Bellemare is 39 years old but putting up good defensive numbers. This is probably his last shot and he should be able to be gotten for a 7th, maybe a 6th, unless there's some kind of bidding war for him.

Stetcher is a solid 7D with some playoff experience which the team probably sees as an upgrade over Jones. It never really felt like Jones had a future here, so I don't mind trading youth for experience.

Brodzinski, Rempe, and Edstrom (and Stetcher) are all extras/injury insurance.

Why would the Rangers trade Jones 1 for 1 for Stecher?
1) An idiotic move for the Rangers (Jones is most likely 3LD next year)
2) Arizona has no use for another offensive defenseman.

Both teams most likely say no.

Why would the Rangers sign Brodzinski, and then have him sit in favor of Bellmare??

I would not. And I don't think Army would, either. Value is one thing. The right value is another.

Can agree there. But the potential for 2 1sts and Othmann is enticing at least. Would much prefer Schneider to Othmann though.

Danforth could probably be had for just a 4th imo

Brodzinski would rotate in on the 4th line for Bellemare (or hopefully Goodrow)

That’s fine, upon further research I’d probably go after Bogosian or Ruwhedel instead and try to recoup a 3rd or 4th rd pick as part of the deal

Also, getting ZB or CW would be about 400k cheaper, which would mean STL would only need to retain $1M instead of $1.5M, thereby sweetening that deal a bit for them

I believe CBJ have already given him a contract for next year, so they clearly like/value the player. Maybe NYR doesn’t need to add as high a prospect, but it probably takes at least a 3rd

I understand the enticement, but that offer is not for me. Not saying we can do better in package value out of context, but we could do better for us specifically. A little less "value" with better relation to specific needs is preferable to me.

Can certainly understand that. We’re going to have to put a focus on young defenseman to balance out our pool. Not sure what quality you get there from a late 1st

In my mind, the best value from a late 1st is either another one of our #20-something draft gem finds or, even better, being used to trade up for Dickinson. Could you imagine actually going from Leddy-Krug as top 4 LDs to Dickinson-Lindstein in the foreseeable future? Holy yes please.

Would love Dickinson, he's been my favorite target for a while. I have less faith in Russian defenseman, but getting Silayev and Parayko next to eachother could be a nightmare as well 6'6 and 6'7 good skating defenseman as a pair would be fun to watch
