I think moving Brodie out helps the cap, and they need a RHD over a LHD that struggles on his off side. in any case, 5ish million needs to go the other way, or move out in another deal. No way the blues retain salary on a 7 year deal

Parayko is not available, and honestly the Leafs do not have anywhere near the trade capital to get him anyway.

FIrst off. I want to give Leafs nation props. This past week there have been minimal Parayko to Toronto threads, much appreciated. The month before was a disaster and you guys have collectively gotten much better.

As for the answer of what it would take. It would take the pieces to somehow rebuild our defense in 3 years or a prospect that's a pretty surefire guarantee to be a top 4 guy with the potential to be a top pairing guy.

I think a 1st + Minten type prospect + Liljegren probably gets the ball rolling but wouldn't get the deal done.

The bigger question is why would the Leafs want to take on soon to be 31 year old Parayko for six full seasons?
If you watched the two Leafs/Blues, did Parayko look ordinary...I though really stiff.
Yeah he might hold it together for year or two, but certainly the potential is a bad long term contract.
If the Leafs have 6.5m to spend on Parayko, they certainly can wait till summer and spend on a UFA.

Your act is tired. You don't want Parayko, and we don't want to trade him - same song and dance

But yes - you should continue to wait for the offseason. That has worked wonderfully for the Leafs for the last 60 years....

And spending assets on aging players also did wonders for us ?

I think your is. Sure the Blues caught fire once, and won a Cup. But you can't believe Parayko is such a difference maker to non playoff Blues. Really? Hey, the Leafs are virtually all teams could trade for an improvement for a Cup run, but 95% of the time these TDL deals do not help buyers at all. Just a waste of futures.
Let's have this talk in three years....we'll see if Parayko is worth his contract.

Gretzky was traded when he wanted out. Folks need to learn the term motivated seller. The Blues are not one in this case.

1 - Hahaha did he now?

Auston Matthews in 50:43 of 5v5 time vs. Parayko the last three seasons: two assists, only one primary. That's it. With Leddy, Scandella and Mikkola as his partners.

Either you don;t actually watch or you don't understand what you're watching or you're putting on an act. Wait til summer, get a UFA, fantastic. Don;t want Parayko's contract? Fabulous. Totally understand. But yes, this sort of Parayko "review" is very tiring.

2 - Oh, sweetie... are we really gonna pretend everyone doesn't know the exact answer to this question?

I think it would probably have to be liljegren, neimela, 2024 first, and robertson

I dont know that he is worth that much but I think that is how much he would cost

high five for only the second person to actually answer the question instead of telling everyone how awesome or terrible Parayko is, or how dumb I am for suggesting theres a fit.

Personally I think that's way too much. Id be fine with Liljegren OR Niemela, but not both

I appreciate the answer, and thank you for actually answering the question. I think that would be huge haul, and I don't think asking for a team's best forward and best defensive prospect, PLUS a 1st round pick to start is reasonable at all

I agree that that would definitely an overpay for him but I think that’s what Armstrong would ask for. He isn’t worth that much but the blues ask would be ridiculous because they don’t really want to part with him.

That's how negotiations typically work, expectation would be somewhere in the middle. I would assume Toronto's ask would be something like Liljegren or Niemela, maybe a B prospect and a 1st. Middle ground could be Niemela, 1st, Robertson, which I would be OK with.
