As much as I hate to say it, I think Hughes would still go after PLD, just not at this price. I think Hughes might consider something like Dvorak + the Jets 1st but not likely more than that.

While most are happy to not have gotten PLD in MTL if Hugues still made a play for him, it would be considerably less than anything they may have offered WIN.

PLD has a huge contract, and while he's clearly not delivering in L.A. it would be such a big gamble to take on in hopes that he would suddenly produce something in MTL that matches the contract. ANd I was one hoping to get PLD at TDL last year.

The only deal Habs may put on the table would be to have a deal where the HABS win on this and LAK get rid of the 8.5M$ they have on their cap. This means pay out.. Hear me out, the LAK are NOT going to pay this but this is what I think they would need to take and send if Hugues were to bite on the deal.

LAK send : PLD + 1st 2025 + 2nd 2027
HABS send : Dvorak (cap space) + Armia
What this does is put relief in 2 years for LAK while providing them with players they can either buy-out or trade for peanuts (Armia) just to clear their cap.

Other than that I don't see Hugues gambling his picks and Barron for PLD who has unfortunately not proven he should've gotten that contract. With the term he has at the rate he's getting.. I don't see him being taken on by any team at this point unfortunately. LAK are gonna have to stick with him and work on his game else they'll have a guy sitting in the rafters taking in 103K$/game to eat hot dogs.

I feel like that paid too much in Vilardi alone, they won't want to trade him except for a stupid return. They will wait next year and see if Dubois bounce back, he did the same think in Winnipeg
