I don't understand the motive for WPG to do that? Ehlers is a pretty big part of their team. I don't think he would cost a significant raise from his current contract. WPG doesn't have an insane amount of expiry's coming up in the next few years. Pionk and Vilardi are both up the same year Ehlers is, but with the cap raises, I don't see how they couldn't make it work.

Personally, I would rather you add Jensen than Edmundson. I can’t wrap my head around trading a 1st for Dowd, but I would do the 1st, and maybe a little extra for Jensen (retention would be preferable), and Dowd. That gives us a top 4 RHD, and a 4c.

Chevy will likely do everything in his power to keep a homegrown talent like Ehlers. WPG's top six would be sorely lacking without him. Schmidt would be off the books by the time Ehlers contract is up and I dont see them breaking the bank to re-sign Dillon. Appleton should also be expendable to make room for Nik's extension.

I can see Ehlers maybe getting moved for a top 4 RHD if that opportunity ever comes up, but that's it.
