I see where you're going, a first this year and your top prospect sounds like a fair offer, especially if the Sabres are trying to move mittelstadt just to not pay him. That's not what's happening though, the Sabres have the cap to sign mittelstadt, the only reason to move him is to fill an immediate need. The Sabres have tons of high end skill forwards coming, what they need is something that helps right now, which for me is a top 4 right shot shut down d, the physical kind. That's the kind of trade that makes sense for the Sabres, and after 13 years of missing the playoffs, futures packages are useless.

OK. I like Holmstromn, but that shouldn't be a deal-breaker at all. Add him to the trade and I'd still do it.

Buffalo takes on JG Pageau's $5,000,000 contract for the next two years, NYI 2024 first, Mayfield and Holmstrom.
Jokiharju and Dahlin are playing really well together, makes me wonder why it took Granato so long to reunite them.
Power and Mayfield would be a nice second pairing
Samuelsson/Johnson/Clifton would be the third pairing.

I'm of the opinion they should keep it simple with Mitts through a hockey trade where they can land a younger, second-pairing d-man. Quality over quantity.
