Patches would be a great in the middle 6 for the Jets.

Edmondson is ok depth (100 times better then stanley) but I would look at TVR on the caps. He could actually play in the top 6 and would be an upgrade on schmidt.

Cause Patches likely wouldn't waive and Jets need someone for the 2nd line, how does Mantha play on his offhand?

Mantha can play both wings just fine. He's actually played most of this season on the right side (his off hand) and I wonder if that's actually a better fit for him than his strong side. For 50% retention, I'd imagine the caps are looking for a second round pick. I know I'd be happy with that personally.

There's no incentive for Winnipeg to pay to downgrade their lineup.
