"here take all of our crap and give us two of your best players with retention"

IDK what you're smoking but send some down to the states.

Why would the Avs trade Byram for a rental goalie with a higher cap hit than their starter?

Reported that for Guentzel the Pens are looking for prospects - not picks - Hirvonen and Steeves are those prospects - the Pens get ALLOT younger with Lilly and Timmins plus the prospects and can flip Brodie for a pick (maybe 2) Karlsson LCEARLY hasn't worked out in PIT - so send him off and start the youth movement (as per above)

Cap hit being more for Sammy than Georgiev is irrelevant. COL needs a much more reliable backup - Sammy is that - nowhere else to go really to get a better/more affordable backup for the playoffs. Sammy could likely be extended as well for around $2.5m on a multi yr deal.

Steeves is a 24 year old AHLer. Hardly a prospect. Hirvonen is pretty meh. 30 teams could offer a better prospect than him

Karlsson hasn’t been the problem in Pittsburgh he’s been good. Considering the retention you’re asking for and the fact you want Guentzel as well means you’d be giving up Knies + Cowan++

Colorado also isn’t giving up a young top 4 dman for a bad goalie and a 1st

Ahh yes! The 24 year old undrafted prospect phenom Axel Steeves! How could the penguins not want him in return for a multi 40 goal scoring winger who's a ppg player in the NHL playoffs.

This is without question the dumbest and worst Guentzel proposal I've seen on this website. Actually blown away lol

Saying the prospects for Jake are Hirvonen and Steeves is so hilarious lol

the assets going back to pittsburgh barely cover the amount of cap being retained, still have to pay for the players too. Also when they say they want prospects think they may high end prospects not 22 and 24 year old who have yet to crack a roster on a team with no forward depth. Feel like they will get much better offers and without nearly that much retention, especially by adding a third team.

Also a late first and useless goalie not going to land Byram

You are right - it is MUCH better to have a guy currently on LTIR leave for nothing as a URFA come the off-season - NOOOWWW you're thinkin'!!! (eye-roll)

they could also go find a reliable backup at samsonov's level for probably a 2nd round pick and not trade Byram... but i see how such a much wouldn't heavily favor the leafs.

Samsonov is still a backup G and an ok one at that. Teams don't trade away someone like Byram (with another year under $4M left) for a backup G and a likely late first rounder.

I'd rather the pens take the $6M in cap space than two AHL players, one of which will never be an NHL regular.

VAN, CAR, DET, hell even VGK and EDM smash crush that poop offer of Hiroven and steeves

Typical brain dead leaf fan on here thinking they can acquire every teams best player for actual dog water

The cap hit is extremely relevant, and the Avs are not giving up their best asset in Byram for a rental goalie. Avs also cant afford to pay a back up goalie 2.5 mil next year without taking a hit elsewhere in the lineup

Reliable? Are you joking? The dude was literally so bad 6 weeks ago that ya'll put him on waivers and nobody would have dared to claim him. Now he's worth Byram? C'mon.

Says who? I'd rather spend a draft pick on Nedeljkovic or Kahkonen than get Samsonov for free, let alone for that package.

Annunen has back to back shutouts and has allowed one regulation goal against in his past 9 periods. The Avs don't need a backup next season. Even if they elect to go that route and target Samsonov, they could get him for free over the summer.
