Later was the assumption. Doesn't sound like there is time for any kind of sign and trade. Obviously if an extension is pre-agreed the return goes up by a good amount.

They want "prospects" and that's plural depending on the roster player. Carolina adds another prospect or replaces him with Morrow. And not just a random prospect, a solid one.

I think that's pretty fair. Especially with Guentzel not appearing to have any interest in extending before free agency. Though I do like Blake as I recognize he has high risk/reward potential.

I don't think this is the consensus among Canes fans, but I'm higher on Blake than Morrow. But I get your point. Canes have plenty of prospects they'd be willing to add I'm sure. Perron, Heimosalmi, Koivunen, etc.
