Filling Holes - Bellemare Nedeljkovic Reilly

Created by: UpsideDownQue
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2024
Published: Mar. 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
3LD, 4C, 2G

Those are the only holes on the roster that I see and all 3 of those positions can be filled by mid to late round picks (or equivalent prospects). Plus they have tons of cap space to do it
Trades
1.
PIT
PIT reportedly wants prospects rather than picks. Ned is worth about a 3rd rounder so PIT can choose one of the Avs prospects who is worth about the same

Maybe Ranta? Meyers? I assume they would want someone close to NHL ready
    2.
    NYI
    1. 2025 3rd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
Not sure if NYI would move him but they have Pelech, Romanov, Reilly, Aho, and Bolduc at LD. Mayfield should be back before the end of the regular season so he rounds out the right side behind Dobson and Pulock
    3.
    SEA
    1. 2024 5th round pick (SEA)
    Additional Details:
Seems like they are sellers now that they have moved Wennberg. Avs know exactly what they would be getting in Bellemare and he checks all the boxes in what they would need in a 4C - speed, good defense, kills penalties, and strong on faceoffs

No to bellemare but the other trades would be beneficial. Gives ava better depth

Wagner or cogs would be better centering the 4th line

Why not Bellemare? He has great underlying numbers

I havent really liked Wagner and Cogliano hasnt played C in a decade

We thought we'd never see it again...

but "Mike Reilly for a 3rd" trades are BACK, baby!!

Isles accept, I would think. Aho or Bolduc can just get sheltered in that LD3 slot, or they can bring in another 6/7th type for a late round pick.

Ned at 3rd round value feels a little spicy - I don't think there are many legit contenders looking for goalie help (out of the teams currently in playoff position, I think maybe the Flyers, Kings or Leafs would be looking but that's it - in the east, Boston/Tampa/Florida/NYR/Canes are set, and the Wings probably wouldn't be itching to bring Ned back in; out west, Dallas/Winnipeg/Nashville/Vegas/Vancouver are set, & Edmonton doesn't have the space) so you might be able to push down to a 4th here, maybe throw conditions on it that turn it into a 3rd if Ned plays 50.1% of the playoffs or something like that.

Put pavel as 4th line then. Bellemare is slow now. Hasn't been the same

It was surprisingly hard for me to find a good 3LD trade target besides Reilly. There are a lot of RDs reportedly available but on LD its pretty bare aside from the high end guys like Hanifin and Chychrun. Theres Edmundson but he has 0 skating ability

Ned for a 4th would be even better. PIT apparently wants prospects instead of picks for Guentzel so I wasnt sure if they would prefer the same for Ned. Id be ok with the 4th -> conditional 3rd but they would have to wait until 2025 (or 2026 in this case if the 2025 pick is going to NYI). If they want a prospect instead thats fine too as long as its nothing crazy

NHL Edge has him at 93rd percentile in top speed this season

I dont watch Seattle games so maybe that top speed was a one time thing, idk. If not Bellemare I think they should still cough up a 5th rounder to bring in a more reliable 4C rather than rely on an internal option

I agree, I watch Seattle games cause they play super late where I live. Bellemare was good when he was with us UT he plays like ryjo I'm terms of speed
