1.
TOR
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
CONDITION: If the Devils make the playoffs with Jones playing 40% of the games, the pick upgrades to a 2nd in 2025
NJD
  1. Jones, Martin ($437,500 retained)
Additional Details:
Cheap depth option for way under league min
2.
TOR
  1. Chychrun, Jakob ($1,000,000 retained)
  2. 2024 5th round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Niemelä, Topi
  3. Robertson, Nicholas
  4. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
  5. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Prospect for the right side, Brodie can be flipped or can stays and if a 'proper pro', Ottawa gets a 1st with a 3rd that is most likely going to become a 2nd, an interesting piece that's sadly in the doghouse in Robertson...

It's an arguably better package then what the Sens got for Chychrun, better than what CGY got for Hanifin and better than what CHI got for McCabe...

Everyone knows why Chychrun makes sense for TO
3.
NSH
  1. 2024 5th round pick (VAN)

IDK what his price is but depth and big

Don't think EDM's selling, why would they do this?

Couple of things:

1. Brodie is a pending UFA on the back 9 of his career, so that part is irrelevant. Plus he's not very good and a LHD which the Sens don't need.
2. Niemela is probably the last style of defenseman the Sens need at the moment.
3. Robertson is soft, doesn't kill penalties and provides secondary scoring at best, this type of player can be found anywhere at any time in free agency and/or other leagues.
4. The 1st is a good starting point,
5. The 3rd and 5th swap is for the retention.

The Sens decline as it addresses none of their needs.

6'2" and is somewhat physical while providing offence is what Tre thought he was getting with Klingberg

I heard somewhere that EDM was trying to move out cap and Foegele as one of the names and thought Foegele could work in TO

1. The Sens had a report that they wanted a guy who acts like a pro to show the younger guys how to do it... Brodie can do that... He's also able to play the right side which the Sens need
2. A 2 way RHD is not what the Sens need? Got it
3. Top 60 in goals per 60 while being good on his stick... Get hit a decent bit but always gets back up and keeps going...

5. Last time I checked, the McCabe trade was a 1st, 2nd and 2 AHLers for McCabe at 50%+Lafferty+2 5ths... The upgrade for conditional 3rd (that can become a 2nd) to a 5th more than covers it... Hanifin trade was: 1st+3rd+2 5ths+fringe NHLer for Hanifin @75% retention + worse fringe NHLer

The cap out being rumoured is most likely Ceci as part of a larger deal, Management and Staff seem to really like Foegs and Drai/McD both stated they would like him kept on the team going forward (though that was at the start of this season).

Ah well... had too much cap space and was trying to use most of it... I'll undo it bc I forgot about someone coming over

Foegele would be a good get and it seems like he's finally being appreciated by other fan bases.
He's been beloved in EDM for a while though.

He's solid depth scoring, which you need in the playoffs

Depth scoring? Only 4 Leafs players more points at 5v5.

I wouldn't call Foegele a core player on EDM, right?

And it's actually 6 players

And it could be more if McCabe, Knies and Jarny played all their games

He’s a pending UFA at the end of the year, they can sign him if they want to without making him a piece in a trade.

Niemela hasn’t played a single game in the NHL so I don’t understand how you consider him a “2 way D-man” just because he’s a RHD doesn’t mean he’s the right guy.

Let’s be honest, you packaged a couple 2nd tier prospects and a d-man the Leafs are going to let walk and threw in a 1st and assume that gets you a division rivals top pair D-man retained for a full season.

No chance.

Cowan or Minten gets the conversation started if prospects get tossed in to whatever deal involves Chyc.

Mintten, Cowan and Knies are untouchables according to Friedman...

So, I packaged a 1st+ 2 of Toronto's best available prospects and a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if something that's likely to happen happens... Then add in a guy that can play the right side/can be flipped/could help fix the room in Ottawa for a position that Ottawa is very strong in (LHD with Sanderson and Chabot)

If those guys are untouchables, the Leafs do not have the assets available to gain a player like Chychrun. The Jones trade is a hypothetical so that 2nd/3rd isnt a set asset.

Exactly, outside of the first, none of this is what the Sens would be looking for

It isn't, but the trade would be if the Leafs got that asset
