Surprised you don't want that pick.

Which EK trade are we talking about? Haha.

We were going to suck without trading those guys. I agree. It could have been a quicker turnaround with layered experience.

Stutzle and Norris in the Karlsson trade

I would have liked to see the layered experience yes.

HOW MUCH RETENTION DO YOU WANT US TO PAY FOR?!?!?!

That's up to BUF, but probably 4m. We can add the PIT and VGK first too if ours isn't enough.

I don't think trading Couture is going to help. He has a few years and this is a team that is in the bottom and doesn't have a good farm to pull from...so you need him for a few more years while Sharks collect top 5 prospect picks in the drafts and slowly build up....think Arizona. Arizona is sorta on the cusp of turning it around, Sharks are at least a few years behind in a same model.

We as sharks fans have been dealt a lot of BS in the last five or so years, and yeah I’m frustrated too, I’m just trying to stay positive and pray the prospects pan out

Im still mad about the Karlsson trade to this day so I get the frustration believe me

As a Sabres fan, I understand your pain all too well. I just wonder if San Jose will even come close to the 13 year playoff drought that we are facing down right now. To put that in perspective, the previous NHL record playoff drought was nine years. We’ve already crushed that. It may be a flippant thought, but I am of the opinion that if any other franchise had a 13 year playoff drought, they might just fold the damn team. Not even relocate because they wouldn’t want to put another city through that.

If anything, in 2025 when you are done holding Burns retention buyout Vlasic. Fml, one of the worst contract in nhl history.

It was just bad contract after bad contract, and it was like obvious stuff too, like DW signs a guy who’s on the wrong side of 30 to an 8x8, how would that ever work out, and it doesn’t. Then Karlsson 11.5x8 just bad move after bad move

I like to think that once some of our guys make the NHL full time we can find our way back into the playoffs.

      I feel your pain.

If Mike Grier can’t dig you out of this hole fast enough to save his job, I’d love to have him back in Buffalo in just about any capacity. We loved him as a player and I know he’d be a great staffer, but I don’t think that’s in any doubt. Not for nothing, but looking back on the 2006 and 2007 Sabres, several of those guys are now GMs of other teams: Briere, Grier, and Drury.

We don't get Stutzle though if we keep Pavs and the core together.
      Norris we do keep.

Regardless, we could have just not sent that first in the deal, or protected it. DW chose to send it, then sign Karlsson to that contract

This deal is not a quarter as bad as that, it was a desperation move, this was a hard move that had to happen at some point.

Actually DW did want to condition it, but OTT refused.
